Vapaita tiloja tarvitaan Helsingissä kipeästi. Makamikilla tehdyn ”arkisen” yhteisönrakentamisen lisäksi Makamik-talo olisi voinut olla tärkeä voimavara viime aikaiselle liikehdinnälle ensin hallituksen leikkauksia ja sittemmin myös Gazan kansanmurhaa vastaan esim. tukikeikkojen, keskustelujen ja muiden kohtaamisten muodossa. Vaikka me Makamik-kollektiivissa ollaan yritetty parhaamme mukaan jatkaa talon toimintaa viimevuotisen tulipalon jälkeen, niin eihän omaa tilaa voi korvata millään.
Fasismi järjestäytyessään on vaaraksi kaikille ja kaikelle joka ei mahdu sen ahtaan maailmankuvan sisäpuolelle. Vaikka fasistiliike täällä meilläpäin maailmaa onkin varsin pieni ja kehno, muodostaa se silti välillä varteenotettavan uhan ruohonjuuritason yhteiskunnallisille toimijoille. Me ei pidetä kaikki tapahtunut huomioon ottaen uskottavana meidän talon tuhoutumista vahingossa. Murto ja sisätilojen sotkemista, lukuisia rikottuja ikkunoita, hakaristejä seinissä ja tuhopolttoja piharakennuksissa sekä talon seinustalla tulipaloa edeltäneen vuoden aikana. Makamikia häiriköineen natsin doksaus tulipaloa edeltävänä päivänä (kiitos Antifasistinen Helsinki <3), tummiin pukeutuneita hahmoja nuuskimassa taloa illan mittaan, talon lähelle samana yönä ilmestyneet uudet natsitarrat ja tulipalon syttyminen miltei heti talon väen poistuttua paikalta. Muistetaan myös että ainakin yhden viime vuoden natsiterroristi-oikeudenkäynneissä tuomitun epäillään osallistuneen ainakin tuohon samaan toissa keväiseen murtoon.
Näinä vaikeina aikoina, pahenevan ympäristötuhon, köyhien kyykyttämisen, sodan ja kansanmurhan keskellä tarve anarkistiselle järjestäytymiselle ja yhteisöllisyydelle jakamattoman ihmisarvon ja vapauden puolesta on suurempi kuin koskaan. Sitä varten tarvitaan tilaa jossa löytää toisemme. Me Makamikilla aiotaan olla osa ratkaisua! Tule siis mukaan ensi viikon sunnuntaina muistamaan menetettyä, unelmoimaan tulevasta ja tukemaan niitä jotka ovat vankilassa puolestamme <3

Free spaces are badly needed in Helsinki. In addition to the ”everyday” community building done at Makamik, the Makamik house could have been an important resource for the movements against the government’s cuts and the genocide in Gaza in the form of support gigs, discussions and other meetings organized there. Although we in the Makamik collective have tried our best to continue the operation of the collective after last year’s fire, there is no substitute for your own space.
Fascism, when organized, is a danger to everyone and everything that does not fit inside its narrow world view. Even though the fascist movement here in our part of the world is quite small and poor, it still sometimes poses a considerable threat to grassroots social movements. We do not think it is credible to think our house was destroyed by accident. A break-in with things trashed inside, numerous broken windows, swastikas on the walls and arson in yard buildings and on the wall of the house during the year preceding the fire. Doxxing of a Nazi who had previously harrassed Makamik on the day before the fire (thanks @antifahki <3), dark characters snooping in the dark around the house during the evening, new Nazi stickers appearing in the neighbouring area in the same night and the fire starting almost as soon as the last of our people left. It is also worth remembering that at least one Nazi sentenced in the terrorist trial of last year is suspected of having participated in at least the break-in at Makamik.
In these difficult times, amidst worsening environmental destruction, oppression of the poor, war and genocide, the need for anarchist organizing and community for undivided human dignity and freedom is greater than ever. For that, we need space where we can find each other. We at Makamik are going to be part of the solution! So come along next week’s Sunday to remember what’s lost, dream of the future and support those who are in prison for us <3
